"I Used To Once Believe In Love" by Alexander The Poet
I used to once believe in love,
When I was so many years younger
It was all I ever dreamt of,
But now, I dream of it no longer
I've seen the world with my own eyes,
I've seen how most of the couples are
Love is a mirage based on lies,
It's based on convenience by far
To gain 'love', one must be handsome,
One must be financially secure
If you're good-hearted and wholesome,
It's not enough, to get through the door
I long for days of chivalry,
When 'love' was real and so much alive
But in today's world, presently,
'Love' seemed to have taken a huge dive
I blame capitalism for this,
For creating the rich and the poor
If it minded it's own business,
Then I think 'love', would be blind for sure
I used to once believe in love,
When I was so many years younger
It was all I ever dreamt of,
But now, I dream of it no longer
